A. Create an analysis document in which you do the following:

Review the theories of motivation found in chapter eight of the textbook and select the theory that you believe would be most appropriate for Bill Bailey to use, taking into consideration his position on the merger. You will then determine how to successfully apply each of the components of the theory to Bill’s situation. Ensure that you discuss specifically what Bill might do to implement each of the parts of the theory.
2. Illustrate how Scott Parker, chairman of the board of the Utah Symphony Organization, might use one theory of motivation to convince Mrs. Abravanel to support the merger. Appropriately illustrate, with sufficient support, how Scott Parker, chairman of the board of the Utah Symphony Organization, might use 1 theory of motivation to convince Mrs. Abravanel to support the merger.
Similar to A1 above, you will want to read through the theories of motivation found in chapter eight of the textbook and select the theory that you believe would be most appropriate for Scott Parker to use in order to convince Mrs. Abravanel to support the merger, taking into consideration her position on the merger. You will then determine how to successfully apply each of the components of the theory to Scott’s situation. Ensure that you discuss specifically what Scott might do to implement each of the part of the theory you select. (Note, this does not have to be the same theory as the one you selected for use with Bill Bailey in section A1).
3. Describe Anne’s positional power in relation to her personal power. Provide an appropriate description, with sufficient detail, of Anne’s positional power in relation to her personal power.
Review the discussions on power in chapter 15 of the textbook. Successful submissions will discuss personal power, positional power, and how they relate. In other words, does one affect the other? If so, how do they relate? (e.g. Can one’s personal power strengthen one’s positional power?) It is important that you relate your discussion to the scenario and include specific examples of how this material can be applied to Anne’s situation.

This question focuses on a discussion of positional power (also called legitimate power). What is it? Where does it come from? What might be Anne’s expectations of those she leads based upon her positional power? How can Ann use her positional power to successfully lead the merger efforts?
b. Discuss how Anne could use her personal power to empower Keith Lockhart. Provide a logical discussion, with sufficient support, of how Anne could use her personal power to empower Keith Lockhart.
This question focuses on a discussion of personal power (also known as referent power). What is personal power? Where does Anne’s personal power come from? How can she use her personal power to help Lockhart do well in his new role? Are there personal attributes that can both strengthen personal power and help others to feel empowered in their own roles? How can Anne’s personal attributes help to empower Lockhart and make him more successful?
4. Present a potential issue with the musicians that, if not resolved, would jeopardize the continuing organizational performance. Present, with sufficient detail, a potential issue with the musicians that, if not resolved, would jeopardize the continuing organizational performance.
What might the musicians fear regarding their contracts, given an organizational change? What other issues might the musicians be concerned about? Funding, salaries, benefits, organizational focus, unions, etc. There are many things that you might pick out of the case study. Just imagine that you were one of the musicians and that you had the environment, support, funding, salary etc. that these musicians currently enjoy. What might you be most concerned about losing or changing if you were anticipating a merger?
a. Recommend how Anne could deal with the issue. Provide an appropriate recommendation, with sufficient support, of how Anne could deal with the issue.
Once you have discussed potential issues with the musicians in A4 above you will want to provide recommendations with support on how Anne could deal with those issues.
5. Discuss influence tactics Anne could use to persuade the opera’s full-time staff and artists under contract to endorse the merger. Provide a logical discussion, with sufficient support, of the influence tactics Anne could use to persuade the opera’s full-time staff and artists under contract to endorse the merger.
