I am for the vaccine, I will be getting vaccinated, but I also believe people should be given a choice. I feel like no one should be forced to get the vaccination if they do not feel comfortable. One good thing is that we still have this thing called herd immunity, so if the majority get vaccinated then it should decrease the number of people getting sick and dying from this virus and eventually it will just be like the common cold. There have been worse viruses. Another point is that this vaccination came out too quickly, a lot of people might not feel comfortable with it, or because of medical reasons might not be able to get it. I agree with your last statement, after many more tests and improvements maybe it will be good enough for everyone to feel safe getting the vaccination.
Another Response:
COVID 19 doesn’t have herd immunity like other things without a vaccine
I disagree with what you’re saying, in several parts of your argument.
- “No one should be forced to get the vaccination if they do not feel comfortable.”
- There are other vaccinations that are required for people to attend schools, what makes this vaccination any different?
- Herd Immunity
- The attached source shows that herd immunity for COVID-19 is not obtainable in the same way other viruses have been before.
- The vaccination came out too quickly
- The vaccination did come out quickly but that was due in part to how serious the virus is.
- “The tremendous financial support from the U.S. government is a huge reason a COVID-19 vaccine was brought to the public so quickly,” says Dr. Sostman. “First, it allowed newer, faster vaccine technology to be used. Second, it’s going to expedite vaccine distribution in a way we’ve never seen.”
