It has been in business using the brand KFC since 1997 when the company split from Pepsi Company. Its primary business is selling of chicken products, sandwiches and other fast foods. The founder of this chain of restaurants is Harland Sanders in 1952 a retired military officer though the idea is dated back to 1930s.

Apart from the success that the company has got since its inception, several concerns have also been raised. For instance, the company has been accused by Greenpeace for a large destruction of the Amazon forest. This is due to the fact that the company purchases soy from Cargill which is believed to be smuggling soy illegally in several countries of Europe and United States. The reactions of customers visiting the restaurants also give different opinions regarding their satisfaction and service. A good number are satisfied with the services while others feel additional services and products need to be added. The company has encountered criticism from animal rights activists over their handling of animals used in their food, though the company has been defending itself from the allegations.
