ESSAY QUESTION: Using the information presented in the film Guns, Germs, and Steel, summarize Jared Diamond’s argument about why Europeans colonized the world and therefore, why the global inequalities exist that have shaped racial definitions all over the world. What do you think about Diamond’s argument? Are there factors you think he left out? Critique it from your own perspective.

Requirements: Assignments should be at least two pages, typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, and double-spaced with 1-inch margins on all sides. Headings do not count toward length requirement and should include only your name and the assignment number. (Assignment #1).
Reasons for gaining points:
Assignment explains the “geographic luck” hypothesis, explains the reason why culture spreads more rapidly East-West than North-South (latitude vs. longitude argument), explains why pandemics originated in Eurasia and not other places, explains how guns, germs, and steel enabled colonization, gives a thoughtful critique of Diamond’s argument.
REASONS for missing points:
Assignment relies too heavily on direct quotation, assignment is plagiarized in part or full, assignment does not cite properly.
