Option 1. Economists have long been discussing the shifts from the physical to the digital economy. Use Arthur’s (2011) article as a starting point and discuss the strategic importance of the digital economy for an industry or region of your choice.
Option 2. Explain the role of human resource management in operations. The discussion should look at the strategic importance of managing people in operations settings. You can use chapter 9, entitled People; Jobs and Organisation from Slack, N., Chambers, S., Johnston, R. (2011) Operations Management the 6th edition as a starting point.
Option 3. For an organisation of your choice, write a 600 word short case that summarises how they have strategically harnessed the use of operations and/or information systems. You could consider using Gartner research as a starting point. Gartner are an Anglia Ruskin partner, you can connect to their site from the http://my.anglia.ac.uk – click on “Auto-login to Gartner website” from the “Links to Partner Sites” section. You do not have to get your case from there; any suitable source will be fine.
Option 4. The strategic importance of maintaining customer relationships for improved sales and marketing processes. You should explore how technology has changed the shape of marketing. A good starting point is Chapter 8 entitled Achieving Operational Excellence and Customer Intimacy: Enterprise Applications from the key text by Laudon and Laudon (2013). Ninak Fireworks
Part 2. Apply relevant models to Ninak Fireworks to analyse the current challenges they have in their operations processes and satisfying the customer. This could include: the input-process-output model; the value chain model and business process mapping. Evaluate how they could improve the operations processes; this should promote the database system and other ideas for operations improvement.

Part 3. Complete a mind map/rich picture to identify and explore the people; management and technology issues at Ninak Fireworks. Analyse how to improve the operations and Ninak Fireworks considering these issues.
